South Ward School (Las Cruces, N.M.) cornerstone collection, 1884-1935.

The collection contains documentary materials placed in the cornerstone of Ward School at ceremonies conducted on May 24, 1905 and recovered in 1934. The documents include a list of teachers, letterheads of state, and business cards for prominent officials, Territory of New Mexico publications, Masonic Lodge Officer lists and publications, and other materials.

Originally built in 1893, the South Ward School became affiliated with Las Cruces School District No. 2, which was created in 1934 after the city consolidated different schools and districts. The South Ward School, at the corner of Amador and Alameda, was torn down and converted into school administrative offices in 1957.
